Following of the election of the Coalition into Government, Prime Minister Tony Abbott announced Mr. Scott Morrison as the Government’s Minister for Immigration. Previously, Mr Morrison was Shadow Minister for Immigration, while the Coalition was in opposition. Accordingly, Mr Morrison brings a solid background and experience to the portfolio.
TSS Immigration's Visa Services Manager, Michael Walker, also National Vice President of the Migration Institute of Australia (MIA), reports that the MIA had met with Mr. Morrison on several occasions in the months leading up to the election. Michael advises that Mr. Morrison briefed the MIA that he intends to put more emphasis on skilled migration and provide greater assistance to Australian employers wishing to sponsor overseas workers.
While no firm immigration policies have been announced yet, Michael anticipates that there will be better collaboration between the Australian Immigration Department and Employers, into the future.
Certainly, as soon as Mr. Morrison releases the policy detail on skilled migration, TSS Immigration will provide you with comprehensive updates.
One of our migration agents will be in contact as soon as possible.
