In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, more and more countries are closing their borders or introducing strict travel restrictions, making international travel incredibly difficult.
The Australian Government will be closing Australia’s borders from 9pm on Friday 20 March 2020 to all temporary residents other than those who meet one of the exemptions below:
- New Zealand citizens usually resident in Australia - proof of residential address must be provided at entry
- The immediate family members of Australian citizens and permanent residents, defined as:
- Legal guardians
- Temporary Partner visa holders - not including Prospective Marriage visa holders
- Temporary Child visa holders (Subclass 445)
Limited international flights will remain available for Australian Citizens and Residents who wish to return to Australia. The government has raised all travel warnings to the highest level, advising Australians not to travel overseas at this time. The latest news on COVID-19 related travel and immigration disruption is available at the blog of our sister company, Newland Chase here.
This is a very fluid situation with the Australian Government announcing changes that could affect your employees daily. Please rest assured that TSS Immigration is well informed on the implications and stand ready to answer any queries that you may have.
TSS Immigration also has clear plans in place to ensure that we can continue to operate during this time. Through our proprietary case management program and secure IT systems, we are able to work entirely remotely while maintaining your privacy. This includes full use of emails and telephones, lodging and monitoring applications, and accessing documents.
We want to assure you that we are taking all precautions and monitoring the situation closely to ensure compliance with all Government directives, the Newland Chase blog will be updated regularly.
